DPI (Dots Per Inch)

DPI (dots per inch) measures the density of ink dots a printer can place per linear inch. Higher DPI produces sharper output. Most large-format equipment prints at 600–1200 dpi native. Source file resolution should be 100–150 dpi at the final printed size for sharp output at typical viewing distances.

Why it matters for your project

Submitting a 72-dpi web image at billboard size produces a blurry, pixelated print. Always check effective resolution at final size. For a 10x10 ft wrap, that's a 12,000 pixel wide image. Ask your printer to confirm your file's effective resolution before approving production.
