Murals vs. paint vs. wallpaper

A hand-painted mural is gorgeous and expensive — typically $25–$60 per square foot and weeks of labor. A premium wallpaper is faster but limited to whatever pattern the manufacturer offers. A printed wall mural is somewhere ideal in between: fully custom artwork, photo-realistic detail, installed in a day, at $10–$18 per square foot. For restaurants, hotel suites, gyms, and feature walls in any commercial space, printed murals win on every dimension that matters: cost, speed, customization, and ability to update.

Substrate selection matters

Mural projects live or die on substrate choice. Smooth painted drywall accepts adhesive vinyl beautifully. Lightly textured drywall (typical office or retail) needs a slightly thicker conformable film. Heavy texture (knockdown, sand finish) demands a printed wallpaper-style material that hides the wall texture rather than fighting it. We survey every wall before quoting. The wrong material on the wrong substrate is the #1 reason wall graphics fail early — and the easiest mistake to avoid.

Working with your designer (or ours)

If you have an interior designer or art director, we collaborate directly with them — files, color targets, install sequencing. If you don't, our design team scopes the mural with you: reference imagery, brand integration, lighting considerations, viewing distance. We always provide a digital mock on photos of the actual wall before production. Clients sign off on the mock, not just the artwork. This eliminates 'it looked different in my head' surprises.

Hospitality-grade durability

Casino and hotel installs run on materials warrantied 5–7 years against fade, peel, and yellowing. We spec the same materials by default on every commercial mural. Cleaning is a damp cloth — no special chemicals — and minor damage (scuffs, small tears) can be patch-repaired without reprinting the whole mural.
