Glossary
Substrate
In printing, 'substrate' refers to two related concepts: the printable material your image is printed on (vinyl, paper, fabric, rigid board), and the application surface the printed material is installed onto (drywall, glass, metal, painted concrete). Both substrates affect how the final piece looks, lasts, and behaves.
Why it matters for your project
Choosing the right printing substrate determines whether your wrap holds color and resists damage. Choosing the right install substrate determines whether the adhesive bonds properly and removes cleanly later. Smooth, clean, fully cured walls accept most adhesive vinyls; textured or uncured surfaces need specialty material — or they need to be skim-coated and primed before install.
