Latex vs. UV vs. dye-sub

Latex inks are water-based, odor-free, and ideal for indoor banners, wallpapers, and any substrate going into a sensitive environment. UV inks cure instantly under UV light, bond to virtually any rigid substrate, and produce the most durable outdoor finish. Dye-sub printing fuses ink into polyester fabric for premium fabric displays. We run all three.

Why digital won large format

Large-format went fully digital over the last 15 years. Screen printing for large-format banners is essentially extinct outside of specialty industrial applications. Digital is faster, cheaper at every quantity below 1000 units, and produces photographic-quality output that screen never matched.

Resolution that matters

All our latex and UV equipment prints at 1200 x 1200 dpi native. At typical large-format viewing distances (3+ ft), this is photographically sharp. For close-viewed prints (under 3 ft), we recommend submitting source files at 150 dpi at final size.

Substrates we run

Vinyl banner stock (13oz, 18oz, mesh). Adhesive vinyls. Window perf. Wallpaper substrates. Polyester stretch fabric. Foam-core. Gator board. Coroplast. ACM (aluminum composite). Sintra. Opal acrylic. Rigid PVC. Most printable surfaces under 4x8 ft.

Frequently asked

Quick answers

Are latex inks safe for indoor environments?
Yes. Water-based latex inks meet UL Greenguard Gold standards for indoor air quality, including hospitals and schools.
What's the difference between latex and solvent printing?
Latex is water-based, odor-free, and immediately handleable. Solvent inks (now mostly phased out) had stronger outdoor durability but heavy off-gassing. Modern latex with overlaminate matches solvent durability without the off-gassing.
Can you print white ink?
Yes — our UV flatbed prints white as a base layer for printing on transparent, dark, or metallic substrates.
